The senior APHC leader maintained that New Delhi was continuing its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir through its aggressive policies.
Shabbir Shah deplored that during the past sixty-five years whenever the Kashmiris demanded their inalienable right to self-determination, Indian troops showered bullets on them and put their leadership behind the bars. He said that the Kashmiri people had rendered unparalleled sacrifices in their liberation movement and they were determined to continue their struggle till the conflict over Kashmir was resolved in accordance with their aspirations. Party leaders including Muhammad Shafi Rangrez, Maulana Abdul Qayoom, Narender Singh Khalsa and Fayaz Ahmed Sodagar also addressed the meeting.

Earlier, Yasin Malik and dozens of party activists, who were arrested during the JKLF’s Court Arrest Campaign, were released on bail from Srinagar Central Jail. A large number of JKLF activists received them outside the jail, amid high-pitched pro-liberation slogans.
APHC leader, Zafar Akbar Butt, addressing public gatherings in Machho, Karalapora and Wathoora areas of Chadoora urged Pakistan and India to take steps for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He demanded immediate release of illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in different jails.
On the other hand, over 50 Panchayat members from Baramulla district have resigned during last two days. The resignations were tendered in the aftermath of recent killing of a Sarpanch and injuring of a woman Panch in separate attacks by unidentified persons in Sopore areas.
