|
Srinagar December 11 : Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has strongly criticized the slapping of PSA on the pro-freedom leaders and said that these PSA’s are a bolt on the so called democracy of India.
It is very unfortunate that the government is hell bent upon slapping PSA one after the other. When the courts quashes the PSA of any person, the government uses its power immediately and gets the PSA slapped again. They do not want the leaders to come out of the jails,” he said.
Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Masrat Alam Bhat and others, Shah said that they are still languishing and suffering in different jails of the valley.
He said that the authorities should bear in mind that by keeping them in jails their stature becomes high in the eyes of the people of the valley. “By these arrests and other tactics the freedom struggle does not get suppressed but gets more
vigor,” he said. Expressing concern Shah said that the prisoners are suffering very badly in the jails and are not being allowed the basic facilities like the medical

Peace will continue to elude from the subcontinent till the Kashmir issue remains unresolved. Kashmir has been a major confrontation between the two nuclear powered

|
Srinagar November 28 : Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad
Shah said that India has adopted a biased approach against the Kashmiris. They have used two faces one for the Kashmir and one before the
International community. On the one hand they are supporting Ang San Sui Kyi but on the other
hand they are denying the birth right to the Kashmiri people. This speaks volumes about the dual policies of the Indian government,” Shah

Myanmar but in Kashmir they have deployed lakhs of troops in the civilian areas. When it comes to Kashmir they take a different
approach and arrest the freedom loving people of the valley, he said. However he also said that even if the most powerful nation in the

|

Shah said that Muhammad Afzal Guru is innocent and was not allowed in any subversive activities, the fact which has been also recognized by Indian Advocates.

The authorities have not learnt a lesson when they hanged Maqbool Bhat that erupted the whole Kashmir valley,” he said adding that it would be a clarion call for the whole Kashmiri nation to stand for their freedom
struggle," Shah said. If they will try to make us remember again then the consequences will be much more serious and intense, he

vigor and heartiness and bought at the international level. Lakhs of people voluntary
joined the freedom struggle braving the bullets without thinking caring for their lives,” he said. But now the issue has now been internationalized and hanging of Afzal Guru will have serious repercussions and will turn the tide that India will not be able to stop, he said. He also asked the India to learn lessons from the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi who has said that from every drop of blood from a freedom struggle 999 new freedom fighters will arise. If an innocent Kashmiri will be hanged then the whole Kashmir youth be left with no option but to come out for demanding their rights.

Kashmiri nation can never forget the sacrifices offered by the Muslims of
Jammu region. shah
|
Srinagar November 3 : Democratic Freedom Party Chairman
Shabir Ahmad Shah said that the Kashmiri nation can never forget the sacrifices
offered by the Muslims of the Jammu region.
Shah said that on November 6 lakhs of Muslims of Jammu were killed without any
reasons. “We cannot forget that day when our Muslim brothers were snatched
from us and killed indiscriminately,” he said adding that the Muslims of the
Jammu region have always been at the forefront in the freedom struggle. Shah
held these views while interacting with his party workers. He also addressed
the party workers in Seer, Islamabad.
Reiterating his stand that all the three regions of the valley have offered
countless sacrifices for the freedom struggle, Shah said that the question of division in any part is never a possible solution. “We are against the division of the state. The Muslims of the Jammu have offered huge sacrifices for the freedom
struggle. so they cannot be separated from the valley by any means. We will not in any manner left the pro-freedom groups of the Jammu alone in the freedom struggle. They had never deterred in offering sacrifices for the freedom

Zanskar
|
Srinagar October 31: Democratic freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has expressed his deep anguish and concern over the violence against minority Muslim community in Zanskar and the desecration of the HolyQuran by some
miscreants." It is very unfortunate that the minority community is being harassed and intimidated and the authorities have adopted a deep and criminal silence,” Shah

The communal forces who are trying to create tension and confusion among the people should be dealt with and it is the responsibility of the authorities, he said. It is very unfortunate that the communal forces are hell bent upon breaking the brotherhood of the communities that have withstood the testing of times. Shabir Shah urges Salahuddin to unite separatists:
|
Srinagar, Oct 29: Underscoring the need for unity among separatists, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday appealed the United Jihad Council Chairman Syed Salahuddin to intervene and play a role in the unification of
separatists. Talking to KNS, Shah said the UJC Chief can play a vital role in sorting out of differences between separatist leaders. “I appeal UJC Chairman Syed Salahuddin to intervene for the unification of the Hurriyat leadership. We are fighting for the same cause and unification of the separatist leadership across the board is in the interest of the cause”, Shah said.
He said the Hurriyat (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani should have consulted other resistance leaders before threatening the government with launching an agitation after Eid-ul-Azha against the proposed construction of macadamized road to the Amarnath
cave. He said the agitation threat by Geelani was not issued after consultation with other leaders of the separatist camp or the Hurriyat Conference.
“Geelani Sahib has neither contacted us nor consulted us. In my opinion, he should have contacted Mirwaiz
Sahib, Malik Sahib and other Hurriyat leaders as we are all fighting for the same cause”, said
Shah. On the proposed macadamization of the Amarnath route, he said that media has reported the news in detail and that more investigations were going on from Hurriyat side into the reports.Shah said Kashmiris have proved best hosts to the Yatris and would continue to do so. “We’re ready to carry them (Yatris) on our shoulders to the cave,” Shah added.
He said that the control of the Amarnath Shrine Board should be given to Kashmiri Pandits. “I think there is hardly any Kashmiri member in the Shrine Board”.
On the apology tendered by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to the families of martyrs for not being able to do enough for them, he said that it was the responsibility of resistance leadership to reach them. “I appreciate the statement of Mirwaiz
Sahib, he has shown sincerity towards the nation”, said Shah. He was quick to add that for reaching out to them, Hurriyat has to be institutionalized. “Hurriyat has not been institutionalized yet. I have always been advocating the institutionalization of the Hurriyat”, he said.
“There should be division of work in the Hurriyat. One of the divisions should be given the responsibility to reach out to the families of the martyrs”, he said. “We’ve the large number of orphans and widows and we must take the responsibility towards them”, Shah added.
Describing the sacrifices of people of Kashmir and the martyrs as the mile stone in highlighting the Kashmir issue, he said “It is the sacrifices of the people and the martyrs that the Mirwaiz
Saab is representing people of Kashmir in OIC and other conferences”. “Resistance leadership must formulate a roadmap for
enlistment of these orphans and widows”, added Shah. Talking about the current situation of the Kashmir, he said that fake encounters, slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on minors and others, silence over the unidentified graves and house arrests of the resistance leaders are the stories of the present. “Our youth are being booked under fake cases and they are being suspected outside the State. It’ll continue until the Kashmir issue is resolved”, he added.
He said Kashmiri jail inmates are being harassed and the objective of quotient of the PSA by courts is defeated through slapping PSA on the same person again and again.
He said that the Kashmir issue is universally accepted dispute and President of America Barrack Obama during his visit to India admitted
it. He said that the India has to respect the sentiments of the people of Kashmir. “Some of our fellow Kashmiris deceived the nation in 1975 by signing an accord. It (India) got independence in 1947 but has forced its imperialism on us”, he added.

Shabir shah placed under house arrest
|

The DFP spokesman, in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned in the strongest terms the house arrest of Shah. He said that Shah was not being allowed to offer Juma prayers for past several weeks. He also described the arrest of Hurriyet leaders including Shah as frustration of the occupation
authorities. This is direct interference into the religious affairs of the Muslims. This is highly irresponsible and unacceptable to the Muslims that they are not allowed to perform their religious duties,” Shah said.
During the last two years of his detention and house arrest Shah was only allowed to offer Friday prayers ten times.
The authorities can not face their opponents and are thus using these tactics that are direct interference into the religious
affairs , They are trying their best to prevent us from meeting the people and do everything to put curbs on our every movement,” he added.
He said that the authorities said they will not allowing Shah to offer Friday prayers and meet people because wherever he goes the people, raise slogans against the illegal occupation of the Indian forces. “They are curbing this movement because the people raise pro-freedom slogans wherever he goes to propagate the freedom movement.”

|
Srinagar, October 10 : Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference and Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party, Shabir Ahmad Shah has said that occupation authorities are arming Panchs and Sarpanchs under a well-hatched conspiracy to convert the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination into a civil

Our mission will not get changed by any circumstances,Shabir shah
|
|
Srinagar October 9 : Senior leader of APHC and president of jammu
Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah Tuesday said that it has become imperative that the freedom struggle should be infused with much vigor and heartiness and there should be no compromise on that front.
Those who feel that they are tired or they are hungry for power should choose their own path and should not become an impediment in the sacred freedom movement. Nobody will be allowed to make any compromise on the sacrifices that the people have been offering from the last decades. Our mission will not get changed by any circumstances,” Shah said this while holding an interaction with the party workers at the party headquarters.
He said that freedom does not come as a gift from anybody but it needs struggle and commitment on which no compromise should be made.
While referring to the Indian struggle he said that they were able to free themselves from the slavery of the British rule after 100 years.
He said that we were slaves of the dogra rule till 1947 and after that India occupied the land illegally.
It is unfortunate that India is portraying the illegal occupation of the valley as a democracy in order to befool the whole world, and for their evil designs they have been utilizing the services of the
Kashmiris people,” he said. “Sapranchs and the punches are being made scapegoats under a deep rooted conspiracy. The so called Panchayat members should take every care in order to avoid becoming scapegoats,” he added.
He said that from the last six decades India has been persecuting the valley ties. “The people of the valley are being tortured, harassed, intimated but this does not mean that we have accepted the illegal occupation of the
Indian forces,” he said while addressing his party workers from different districts.
He said that the sacrifices would bear fruit and will not let them go waste in any way. “No force will deter the
Kashmir's from pursuing the cause of freedom. Neither the intelligence agencies or the brutality of the armed forces will make the freedom struggle weak in any manner,” he added.
He said that the freedom leaders are indebted to the Kashmir university teachers and students who have helped the sacred cause in one way or the other. “It is very unfortunate that the
Kashmir University has been turned in to a political hub where the authorities are propagating anti-movement
propaganda. We salute the emotions and the courage of the students who stood up against the political activities that are against the sacred cause. This should be an eye opener for the authorities that the youth have become conscious and of their rights,” he said.
He also criticized the statement of P Chidambaram wherein he had stated that the situation has improved in the valley. “P C is indulging in jugglery of words. Sometimes he says that that Kashmir needs a unique solution and at other times he says that the situation has improved a lot and the youth are protesting for employment and other problems and not
Azadi. This is far from the reality,” he said. If P Chidambaram is so confident that the people in the valley do not want
Azadi, then it is a golden chance for India to hold a plebiscite here and everything will be clear to one and all,” shah said.
We want that all the people in the valley irrespective of their ideologies should come under one umbrella and work for the common good. That is our aim and ideology.

|
Srinagar September 04 : Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has welcomed
President Asif Ali Zardari's statement wherein he has said that Kashmir is a disputed territory. “By calling the Kashmir as a disputed territory Asif has vindicated the stand of the separatist leadership in the valley. Kashmir is a disputed territory that needs a political solution,” he said.
Shah also criticized the India’s External Affairs Minister S M Krishna’s statement, and said that by making these statements history cannot be changed.
if India calls it as their integral part why the two nuclear powers have been fighting from the last many decades. If Kashmir is their integral part why they have been holding with their counterpart. These kinds of statements are uncalled and unwarranted,” he added.
Why the Kashmiri’s have been given promises from time to time? Why the United Nations passed 18 resolution for resolving the Kashmir issue,” Shah questioned.
The representatives of India and Pakistan had a verbal spat in United Nations General Assembly over the decades-old Kashmir dispute. SM Krishna’s statement had called the remarks made by Pakistan President Asif Ali
Zardari's on Kashmir as “unwarranted”. However the Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative Raza Bashir Tarar defended the Pakistani leader’s statement at UN. Shah said that by holding elections under the garb of power India tries to befool the whole world. In Kashmir there are seven lakh troops which is a clear cut evidence that the India is holding the valley by the use of force, he said.

Shah addressing party activists in Baramulla termed as unrealistic and ridiculous, the reaction of Foreign Minister S M Krishna to the Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari’s speech in the United
Nations. Terming Jammu Kashmir as inalienable part of India is tantamount to saying the day as night and it is not even remotely true,” said Shah , adding that the territory divided on the either side of ceasefire line “is an internationally acknowledged dispute and it is yet to be
resolved." Those who claim that people of Kashmir have decided to live with India by participating in the elections are telling a white lie which has no takers in the
world, He added.
Shah accused New Delhi of pursuing the “policy of stubbornness and deceit. This policy belies its all claims of
democracy." The resolution of this dispute is still pending,” he added. “In presence of 7.5
lakh army and over one lakh paramilitary forces and police, elections held in Kashmir lack credibility,” he

Srinagar ,September 28 : Rebutting Indian foreign Secretary
Ran Jan Mathai’s remarks on Kashmir, Democratic Freedom party chairman said that Kashmiri’s have never accepted India as their nation and will never do so in their lifetime. Kashmir was never part of India. By shying away from the reality India is trying to

he was to address a gathering after Friday prayers. When the party chairman
along with Javaid Mir, Mohd Yousuf Naqash, Shabir Dar and Wasim Lone tried to

resistance movement of the three successive years 2008,2009,2010 should be an
eye opener for the occupational forces that no such things will deter us to

people were facing the bullets without any hesitation. They were coming on the
streets without any fear. This shows their aspirations and the commitment,”
he said. He said that the Kashmir is not any border dispute between the
two nuclear powered neighbors but is the question of the lakhs of Kashmiri’s
and their sacrifices. “Kashmir issue should be resolved as per the
resolutions of the United Nations or the talks between the Freedom loving
leaders along with India and Pakistan,” Shah said.
He also urged upon the party workers to reach to the people and understand and
address their problems. “Some political elements who are against the freedom
movement are trying to defame the freedom struggle. They are using various

evil designs,” he said.
Shah also condemned the police action on the Dukhtaran-e-Millat and other
protestors who were arrested while they were expressing their anger over the
release of an anti-Islam film. “The police arrests are highly condemnable.
Police has launched a manhunt to arrest the people who were out on the streets
protesting against the film Police is playing with the religious sentiments of
the Muslims as they are not allowing to protest an anti-Islam film,” he said.

favor of one or the other dominion. But the principle of partition and the right to self-determination of Jammu and Kashmir was trampled down under India’s military aggression on Kashmir; resulting in occupation, genocide and migration of the people throughout, by India, especially in Jammu.
He said, “Today, after 81 years of freedom struggle we stand nowhere as a nation. Empty rhetoric can’t salvage our jolting ship in storm. We should rejuvenate the rank and file by a right direction and strategy, not rely upon utopian slogans, but devise practical measures to translate our dream into a reality and urge the world to support us in regaining our lost historical identity.

Hurriyet Conference will never take part in elections: Shabir Shah
|
Srinagar, July 5: Senior Hurriyet Conference leader and Chairman Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah, while ruling out further divisions in
Hurriyet Conference, said formation of a third faction will amount to treachery with the people of Kashmir.
“There is no question of dividing the Hurriyet further which I believe would amount to treason. Unity, not division among separatist leadership is the need of the hour”, Shah said in an interaction with
KNS.Shah stressed the need for institutionalizing Hurriyet Conference. “Except for the basic essence and preamble of the
Hurriyet Conference, we need to bring large-scale systemic changes in Hurriyet Conference to make the forum strong”, Shah said adding creation and activation of different units of
Hurriyet Conference is needed which can ensure division of work.
Shah stressed that the Chairmanship of the Hurriyet Conference is not an issue under contention. “We need to set up a Majlise Mashawarat or Advisory Committee or
Shoora, whatever we may call it”, said Shah. He said the Hurriyet Conference Chairman is hugely overburdened with work and responsibilities, which need to be shared by others.
Shah said the preamble of the Hurriyet Constitution cannot be altered or amended. “Amendments can be made in the constitution to make
Hurriyet a strong and divergent platform, however I am against touching the preamble of the constitution”, Shah said. “Those who are talking about an alternative to the solution of Kashmir issue under UN resolutions are free to voice their opinion, however we don’t agree with them”, he added.
Shah said Hurriyet Conference needs to be reorganized and reshaped. “Hurriyat needs to set up offices and units at different levels across the state to make it a more vibrant and inclusive platform”, he said.
The DFP Chairman called for revocation of show-cause notices issued by the Hurriyet
Conference to Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Azam Inqilabi after they had openly opposed the statement made by former
Hurriyet Chairman Abdul Gani Bhat with regard to UN resolutions. “They wanted action against the statement but were served show cause notices. These notices should be withdrawn”, he said.
Shah said since Bhat had openly made the statement, it needed public opposition. “A lot is said within organizations, but the statement was made publicly and needed a public response”, he
said. The senior Hurriyet leader called upon separatist leadership to unite against sealing and confiscating of properties of pro-freedom leaders by the authorities. ”Leadership should unite and rise against such designs of the government aimed at weakening the movement”, he said adding government can take such actions against every pro-freedom leader to intimidate them and weaken their resolve.
Shabir Shah said the United Jehad Council has an important role to play in the freedom struggle. “UJC’s role very important, their sacrifices are highly valuable and cannot be forgotten”, he said adding the Hurriyat Conference believes in political means for achieving its goals.
Shah ruled out any possibility of the Hurriyet Conference fighting the 2014 Assembly elections in the state. “Even if the solution to Kashmir issue takes 200 more years,
Hurriyet conference will not take part in elections in any way”, he said adding there will be no place for those people in the
Hurriyet Conference who fight elections.
He held “government agencies” responsible for the attack carried out on him at Khanyar during his visit to the gutted shrine of Dastgeer
Sahib (RA). “Certain agencies have succeeded in hiring people like they did when they hired the renegade militants to commit atrocities against people”, he said.
However, Shah said the Hurriyet Conference had made certain commitments and given assurances at the time of his joining the conglomerate, which have not been fulfilled till date. “Hurriyat has failed so far to reach out to people. We need to connect with people and understand their problems in their totality”, he said.
Shah hailed the contributions of the Mirwaiz family towards Kashmiri society. “Family of Mirwaiz Umer Farooq especially Moulvi Yousuf Shah and Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq have immensely contributed to states’ social, political and educational development”, he said adding such contributions cannot be forgotten,

Stressing the need for a comprehensive mechanism to take the ongoing struggle to its logical end, the speakers maintained that it was high time that the separatist leadership should rise the occasion and burry their difference for the larger interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They said that in view of the changes sweeping across the globe Kashmiri leadership must show magnanimity, foresight and wisdom to tackle the issues confronting the nation. They opined that there could be change in the strategy; however, there should be no compromise on the basic principles. The speakers also reiterated their resolve to continue their struggle for right to self-determination.
Regarding the different phases of the ongoing struggle one of the speakers maintained that it was an ideologically driven movement saying that despite many ups and downs in the movement there was no dearth or abatement in peoples’ passion whatsoever. “Those who represented the aspirations of the masses sustained and those who couldn’t were thrown into the dustbin of history”, he said adding that the recent mass uprising amply demonstrated the fact that the Kashmir movement has great potential and self connecting mechanism.
