Padgaonkar’s statement a white lie: Shah

Srinagar, April 11: Senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Party, Shabir Ahmad Shah, has rejected the statement of so-called India’s chief Interlocutor, Dileep Padgaonkar, in which he said that he had clandestine links with all pro-freedom leaders except veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani. Shabir Ahmad Shah addressing a party meeting in Srinagar termed Padgaonkar’s statement as a white lie. “We are not against talks to resolve the Kashmir dispute but these should be based on some principles,” he added. He said that India was systematically trying to malign the pro-liberation leadership and to create fissures among the Kashmiris but it would never succeed in its nefarious designs. Shabir Ahmad Shah also visited the residence of the High Court Bar Association President, Mian Abdul Qayoom, and congratulated him on his release from illegal detention. On the occasion, he appealed the world community to impress upon India to release all illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in different jails inside and outside the occupied territory

Kashmiri Diaspora’s effort for highlighting the dispute hailed

London, April 05: Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference APHC), Shabir Ahmad Shah has appreciated the efforts of Kashmiri Diaspora for highlighting the plight of their brethren and advocating their legitimate cause.

Shabir Ahmad Shah, while addressing a convention of the Kashmir Centre representatives at Birmingham via phone from Jammu, reaffirmed the resolve of the Kashmir people to continue their struggle till complete success.

He welcomed the latest thaw in Indo-Pak relations but categorically declared that without the presence of actual stakeholders, the representative voices of Jammu and Kashmir, the talks would remain inconclusive. He asked the participants to strengthen Kashmir Centre.

Earlier, the Executive Director of Kashmir Centere London, Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl welcomed the participants and briefed them about the work being done at the Kashmir Centre on different fronts. This is being done to keep international community and well-wishers of peace informed about the ground situation and invoking them to facilitate an honourable solution of this long lingering dispute, he maintained.

He hoped that the wisdom of the representatives assembled today would multiply these efforts by getting in touch with their respective parliamentarians in their constituencies.

The Chairman of Kashmir Centre Brussels, Barristers Abdul Majeed Tramboo on the occasion said that Kashmiri Diaspora living in Britain was a large populace outside the Jammu and Kashmir, adding that they needed to unite together and converge into a singular voice for highlighting their cause.

Irshad Malik, Secretary General of the Advisory Council, asked the participants to contribute to Kashmir struggle for freedom according to their capacity and wisdom.

Dr Khurshed Ahmed pleaded for conceptual understanding. He also asked the participants to network properly with Universities and think tanks. In this context he pleaded for Kashmir Awareness lectures for the youth who have to become the torch-bearers of the struggle in future.

Chaudhry Allah Ditta asked the participants to learn from the past and focus on the present for better results.

Chaudhry Sabir Hussian, Chief Co-Ordinator of Kashmir Centre Advisory Council thanked the participants for their intellectual inputs and asked them to continue this good work at their respective places.
Asghar Ali pleaded for widening the spectrum of debate and get united on a single point agenda of right to self determination.

Mohsin Nazir and Sajid Yousaf played an important role in managing and organizing this convention in a meticulous way.

At the end of the deliberations a decleration was unanimously adopted which reads as under

1. Declaration
2. This declaration is adopted by the UK wide representative convention of Kashmir centre London advisory council held at Birmingham UK on 3rd of April 2011.
3.  The state of Jammu and Kashmir is a United Nations mandated disputed territory. The political future is yet to be ascertained.
4. United Nations resolutions and the Charter of United Nations guarantee the right of self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which needs to be redeemed to them under United Nations auspices.
5. The mechanisms of UN needs to be invoked by the international community to hold the promised plebiscite or referendum in the disputed territory.
6. We welcome India Pakistan resumption of talks and putting the peace process back on rails. This process could break the ice and could become result oriented if the basic stake holders the representatives of Kashmir are made an integral part of this process.
7. International community particularly the G8 and P5 should facilitate the process.
8. A conducive environment should be created in Indian occupied Kashmir where gross human rights violations are continuing as a consequence of state violence. 
9. Amnesty international’s latest disclosures should be taken seriously by the International community.
10. The latest report of human rights situation in 26 countries released by Honourable William Hague has ignored the massive human rights violations committed by Indian state in Indian held Kashmir. We would request the APPG on Kashmir to take up the issue with the secretary of foreign Affairs. 
11. All political detainees including Mian Abdul Qayoom, Ghulam Nabi Shaheen, Ghulam Nabi Sumjee and others should be released.
12. Retired Major Avtar Singh should be brought to justice. He murdered Jalil Andrabi chairman Council of journalists in cold blood. 
13. All draconian Laws like AFSPA and PSA should be immediately withdrawn by Government of India.
14. Government of India and Pakistan should facilitate an intra and inter dialogue between the people of Jammu and Kashmir on both sides of the ceasefire line.
15. All the interested parties on the issue of Kashmir will work with Kashmir Centre’s to promote and project the Kashmir cause in the united Kingdom, European Union, commonwealth, united States and others parts of the world. 

Conclusion
Finally we reiterate the pledge that we will remain committed to the legitimate struggle of people of Jammu and Kashmir for self-determination and raise it at every forum and lobby support with our parliament members and policy makers.

Repressive tactics cannot suppress liberation struggle
Srinagar, March 20 : Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference and chairman of DFP, Shabir Ahmed Shah has emphasised that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved through peaceful process of negotiations involving Pakistan, India and genuine Kashmiri leadership.

Shah said this while addressing a function in Jammu, today. He said that some elements and Indian intelligence agencies wanted to create confusion among the Kashmiris to hamper the resolution of the dispute for their vested interests. Other speakers on the occasion said that India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru had promised the Kashmiris to give them the right to decide their future themselves but the commitment was yet to be fulfilled. He maintained that the repressive tactics can not subdue the political resolve of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah, addressing a public gathering at Samba in Jammu said that the dispute could only be settled through tripartite talks including Pakistan, India and the real Kashmiri leadership.

He urged India to revoke draconian laws, release all illegally detained pro-freedom leaders and activists and stop gross human rights violations in the occupied territory to create conducive environment for talks on Kashmir.

He said that the people of Kashmir had given unprecedented sacrifices for securing right to self-determination and their struggle would not be allowed to go waste.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah appealed the international community to put pressure on India to amicably resolve the Kashmir dispute so that the people of Kashmir could get rid of Indian bondage.

He urged India to revoke draconian laws, release all illegally detained pro-freedom leaders and activists and stop gross human rights violations in the occupied territory to create conducive environment for talks on Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the hooligans of Sangh Parivar tried to enter the venue to disrupt the function but were restricted by some participants. About the incident, the senior APHC leader said that the Sangh Parivar was indulging in communal politics in Jammu and Kashmir and its activists wanted to divide the state, which was not tolerable at any cost. “These miscreants create communal hatred among people and their only objective is to disrupt the brotherhood for which Kashmir is always respected,” he added.

Later, Shabir Ahmad Shah addressed public gatherings at Chinni and Hiranagar areas.

Srinagar, March 01: The chairman of DFP and senior leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Shabir Ahmad Shah has strongly denounced the stepped up violations of human rights by Indian troops and police personnel in the territory.

Shah visited Sambora area of Pulwama where he enquired about the health of a person, Abdul Rasheed Rashi, who was seriously injured by Indian troops during a peaceful protest demonstration, last year. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the people of Kashmir had rendered unprecedented sacrifices for securing right to self-determination and New Delhi could not prevent them from their just struggle through repression.

The senior APHC leader said that the uncertain situation in the occupied territory would prevail till the Kashmir dispute was resolved in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

Srinagar, February 23: Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference and chairman of DFP Shabir Ahmed Shah has urged India to give up its unrealistic approach and come forward to settle the Kashmir dispute through meaningful and result-oriented dialogue in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.

Shabir Ahmed Shah while addressing a press conference in Srinagar, today, said that India should withdraw its troops from the occupied territory, repeal all draconian laws, release all illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders and bring the perpetrators of human rights violations to justice so that conducive atmosphere could be created for resolution of the dispute.

He said that India had stepped up human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir to prolong its illegal occupation of the Valley and prevent the Kashmiri people from raising their just voice for securing right to self-determination. He said that innocent youth and teenage students were being arrested and were sent to jails under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), which was injustice and against the democratic norms.

The senior APHC leader also praised the people and government of Pakistan for their moral, political and diplomatic support for the Kashmir cause and hoped that the support would continue in the future as well.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah called upon the world human rights organisations particularly Amnesty International and Asia Watch to take notice of the Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir and put pressure on India to stop rights violations in the territory.

He also welcomed the resumption of talks between Pakistan and India and demanded the inclusion of the true leadership of Kashmiris in the dialogue process so that permanent settlement of the dispute could be evolved.

India cannot suppress Kashmiris’ struggle by force: Shabbir

Srinagar, February 14:  Senior APHC leader and the chairman of Democratic Freedom Party Sahabir Ahmad Shah, has said that India and its agents in the territory will not suppress the Kashmiris' struggle by using brute force against Kashmiris strgulling in a just and legitimate struggle for right to self-determination.

Addressing a public gathering at Logripora in Baramulla the DFP chief termed the Egyptian revolution as a turning point for oppressive nations of the world and said that the repressive regime in the occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir would  meet the same fate of Hosni Mubarak’s regime in Egypt.

 The APHC leader said that the Egyptian revolution should serve as an eye opener for the occupation authorities in the territory. “After 30 years of suppression, when the patience of Egyptians ran out, they toppled the cruel regime in just 18 days,” he added.

 Shabbir Ahmad Shah also visited Wodoora, Anthipora and several other areas of Baramulla to express solidarity with the families of the youth martyred by Indian police and troops during last year’s uprising.

 He assured the families of the killed youth that the mission of Kashmiri martyrs would be taken to its logical end and their sacrifices would not be allowed to go waste.

	Srinagar, February 11: Crippling strike was observed in Kashmir on Friday to mark the 27th martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri liberation leader and founder member of JKNF Muhammad Maqbool Butt. All business establishments, government and private institutions remained closed and transport was off the road. The call for the strike was given by veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah, Syed Ali Gilani, ,the High Court Bar Association and other leaders. Pertinently, Muhammad Maqbool Butt was hanged to death by indian authorities in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on the 11th of February in 1984 for his leading role in Kashmir liberation movement and his body was buried in the jail premises. The occupation authorities had imposed restrictions and deployed thousands of police and paramilitary personnel in Srinagar and other cities and towns to prevent people from taking out processions. Despite restrictions, people took to the streets in Srinagar and staged protest demonstrations. Several protestors chanting, pro-freedom slogans were arrested and many were injured when the paramilitary forces resorted to violence. DFP chief, Shabir Ahmad Shah was arested by police and CRPF personnel and detained him at Mirgund police station along with his dozens of Party workers.Shah was schdulad to visit trehgam to pay tributes to Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool bhat. Shah was proceeding towards Trehgam, the ancestral village of Mohammad Maqbool Butt. Meanwhile, convener of APHC-M Pak chapter Mehmood Ahmed Saghar paid rich tributes to the JKLF leader and said that the deceased leader’s indomitable role and peerless contribution would be remembered for a long time in the history of Kashmir.
